Guitar Maestro T.E.A.R.S (Teaching Excellence And Revolutionary Synergy)

Guitar Maestro T.E.A.R.S is a development project of the NordPuls network bringing together teachers with different backgrounds and from different types of departments (jazz, pop/jazz, folk or not genre-specific). The goal is to build sustainable personal relationships between the Nordic/Baltic teaching staff.

CONTENT
The content will be a mix of user generated presentations on specific topics, debates, keynotes, "hands-on" demonstrations, workshops with students at RAMA, teaching-demonstrations, tips & tricks sharing and "problem solving"-sessions, and jam-sessions.

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE

January 14
1. Registration
2. Introduction
3. Topic presentation
4. "Gender ... where are the girls??" An Expert from the GENUS conference will join
5. Teaching demonstration with students, streamed and recorded from the RAMA concert hall.
6. “Knowledge sharing session” about how guitar teaching practice is integrated in the curriculum at the
participating institutions

January 15
1. Keynote kickoff to debate
2. Presentations on specific topics
3. Tips & tricks sharing and "problem-solving" sessions
4. Debate:
"What is worth learning – for the student", and how to make the student answer that question.
"Diverse approaches in a life with music”
5. "Hands-on” demonstrations
6. "Teaching material" market-place.
7. Jam-session/collaboration: teachers play their original music, co-creating guitar arrangements

January 16
1. Debate on "pedagogical progression" in music schools.
2. Advance methods for chord-scale improvisation
3. Guitar GEAR-session. Old school tube amps vs. digital modeling? The participants bring their favorite pedal, effect or amp and share their preferred use, tips and tricks
4. Summary of discussions and mindsets. Inputs from the participants to the final written feed-back to the managements and the Nordplusmusic web-site.
5. Wrap up and evaluation
