The Development of Classical Music Education

The session of the development project was hosted by the Royal Danish Academy of Music 9th - 11th March 2016.

Background
The use of digital technologies of the 21st century has brought along new possibilities not only for creating and performing music, but also new approach to learning musical material using new technologies. The Nordplusmusic institutions intend to explore the new opportunities and discuss how to develop an advanced platform for innovative music learning: on-line, distance and blended learning, and how to develop new teaching/learning methods.  

Objectives
- collecting experience from the partners concerning innovative music teaching and learning (online courses, video conferencing) etc.
- discussing about future possibilities and develop strategies and methods of innovative music teaching and learning;
- creating a platform in order to provide new forms of service (i.e., blended learning courses, massive online courses etc.
-trying out new methods with pilot courses, which would later be offered by partner institutions as electives for all Sibelius network

Outcomes
- Mapping the situation in Nordic/Baltic region and exploring the new opportunities
- Innovation of music education and extended internationalisation of music education
- Defining innovation capacities in the region
- Exploration of possibilities for future collaboration

The DP is open for all Sibelius member institutions.
