GENUS is a three-year development project of three Nordic institutions focusing on gender balance and equity in music education. The aim of the project is to equip students, teachers and leaders in music education with practical tools to make the gender balance more equal in the future.

In 2019 in Kristiansand, the focus was on the unequal gender balance in higher music education. In 2021 they - quite literally -  "zoomed" in on the years before possibly reaching a higher music education. In 2022 the focus was on the years after having completed the music degree and the experience of joining the music industry. 

The programme focused on a mix of topics centering around the music industry and higher music education and presented a multiple of perspectives with a big focus on discussion.
